05 Going Up (EP)
Locked
Stuck
Trapped
Stopped
Locked, in a prison cell
It’s the feeling that I know so well
Stuck, in a dead end street
Not the kind of people that you like to meet
Trapped, in an empty space
We’re all fighting for a different place
Stopped, in your tracks at night
Listening to sounds that don’t sound right
But not me, I’m going to the top
The man is deranged and he’ll never stop
I’m going up, up, up, up
I’m climbing every ladder to the top
Yeah I’m going up
I’m going up
And nothing’s going to stop me
No, no one’s going to stop me
From climbing to the top, I’m going up
Locked, behind an iron door
They ain’t going to keep me here no more
Stuck, behind the iron wall
It won’t be long before we make it fall
Trapped, behind the naked truth
Deprived of choices when I was in my youth
Stopped, by the lock and key
Not any more because I’m breaking free
Oh yeah me, I’m going to the top
I am the one that he’ll never stop
I’m going up, up, up, up
I’m climbing every ladder to the top
Yeah I’m going up
I’m going up
And nothing’s going to stop me
No, no one’s going to stop me
From climbing to the top, I’m going up
Don’t you see? It doesn’t have to be that way
Follow me, or you’ll end up as easy prey
But not me
No, not me
No, not me
I’m going up, up, up, up
I’m climbing every ladder to the top
Yeah I’m going up
I’m going up
And nothing’s going to stop me
No, no one’s going to stop me
From climbing to the top, I’m going up
Don’t you see? It doesn’t have to be that way
Follow me, Or you’ll end up as easy prey
But not me
No, not me
Don’t you see? It doesn’t have to be that way
Follow me, or you’ll end up as easy prey
But not me
No, no, no
I’m going up, up, up, up
I’m going up, up, up, up
I’m climbing every ladder to the top
Yeah I’m going up, I’m going up
And nothing’s going to stop me
No, no one’s going to stop me
From climbing to the top, I’m going up
Don’t you see? It doesn’t have to be that way
Follow me, Or you’ll end up as easy prey
But not me
Stopped

I am what you call a Conceptual Musician and I don’t play instruments as such, a little like Malcolm McLaren. And this is a concept album made for the purpose of accompanying my autobiography, though I do intend to put a band together to reproduced it.
I am often asked how I produced my music, and no, it is not AI generated, in fact I hate the whole AI revolution. As a creative, it drives me mad when someone produces something of value and the general assumption is that it must be AI, well it’s not I’m glad to say.
In 2015 I finished writing my autobiography and five years later in 2025 it was published. Another five years later in 2025 I completed the album “Unconventional”. A self imposed personal project which cost thousands to produce, but was worth every penny.
The Lyrics: All of the lyrics for the album are 100% written by myself and I copyrighted them back in 1992. They all originated from my poetry which I used a coping mechanism and an escapism from my abusive childhood, and later tweaked then to be used as song lyrics.
The Music: As a conceptual musician I know in my head exactly the kinds of sounds I want to hear for each track and I have a good understanding of music. I paid session musicians for many aspects of many of the tracks to use as a base layer. Then with the use of DAW software I introduced some of my own created sounds, mixed, blended and remixed until I achieved the sounds that I wanted. Some of the final tweaks were produced in various other music editing tools.
The Videos: As a video editor I extensively researched stock websites and purchased professional video clips and images to suit the criteria of each story that I wanted to convey, sometimes spending days hunting for the right elements for each project.
The AI: Despite my dislike of AI I have to admit that reluctantly I did use AI for the Newsreader on the videos at the start and end of the album. And I also used AI to change my singing voice as I was not happy with production results of my own voice.
The Results: Ultimately, no matter how I created this album, it is a worthy music album in its own right. I appreciate some of the imperfections but at least I have the satisfaction of knowing that it is original and unique with an intense, relatable human story and a production of significance. Conceived, produced and mixed by myself, a time consuming project which consisted of over 2,500 files and more than 300Gb.
I thank you for your time and interest in reading my story and trust that you enjoy the album…
