06 Something In The Air

Lyrics – 06 Something In The Air

Do you know something that I don’t
Cause there’s something in the air
I can’t feel it, I can’t touch it

She said she’d be working ’till late on a Monday
He said that he’d meet her the following Tuesday
But Tuesday’s a blue day, So set off on his way
To meet her from work that very same Monday

Time slowly passed as he stood waiting for her
He saw someone slip out or was it just a blur
As the rain fell upon him. He gave an unsure grin
And was told no one at work, had even seen her

Do you know something that I don’t
Cause there’s something in the air
I can’t feel it, I can’t touch it
But it’s definitely there

So what do you know that I don’t
Are you saying you don’t care
Won’t you show me, won’t you tell me
Cause there’s something in the air

He early next morning confronted his loved one
Wanted to know what the hell was going on
She denied it completely, smiled very sweetly
And gave him her word, that there wasn’t anything wrong

Wednesday was Thursday, and each day the same day
Time didn’t matter to these two anyway
But in all of their kissing, he felt something missing
He wanted to ask, but did not know what to say

Do you know something that I don’t
Cause there’s something in the air
I can’t feel it, I can’t touch it
But it’s definitely there

So what do you know that I don’t
Are you saying you don’t care
Won’t you show me, won’t you tell me
Cause there’s something in the air

He came to despise her, the black widow spider
And never again would he lay down beside her
Though he still dreams the good times
And skips all the bad times
And still can’t figure out what went on deep inside her

One year later he found out she was just a hooker
Her soul was possessed by the devil that took her
He repeated what she said, When they were nearly wed
Back in the days when she was a good looker

She vowed that you can’t judge a book by its cover
And though they were close, he was merely a lover
Grave bitten and twice shy, He gave in his reply
That he’d never again be bit by another

Do you know something that I don’t
Cause there’s something in the air
I can’t feel it, I can’t touch it
But it’s definitely there

So what do you know that I don’t
Are you saying you don’t care
Won’t you show me, won’t you tell me
Cause there’s something in the air

Cause there’s something in the air
Cause there’s something in the air
Cause there’s something in the air

Album Backstory:

I am what you call a Conceptual Musician and I don’t play instruments as such, a little like Malcolm McLaren. And this is a concept album made for the purpose of accompanying my autobiography, though I do intend to put a band together to reproduced it.

I am often asked how I produced my music, and no, it is not AI generated, in fact I hate the whole AI revolution. As a creative, it drives me mad when someone produces something of value and the general assumption is that it must be AI, well it’s not I’m glad to say.

In 2015 I finished writing my autobiography and five years later in 2025 it was published. Another five years later in 2025 I completed the album “Unconventional”. A self imposed personal project which cost thousands to produce, but was worth every penny.

The Lyrics: All of the lyrics for the album are 100% written by myself and I copyrighted them back in 1992. They all originated from my poetry which I used a coping mechanism and an escapism from my abusive childhood, and later tweaked then to be used as song lyrics.

The Music: As a conceptual musician I know in my head exactly the kinds of sounds I want to hear for each track and I have a good understanding of music. I paid session musicians for many aspects of many of the tracks to use as a base layer. Then with the use of DAW software I introduced some of my own created sounds, mixed, blended and remixed until I achieved the sounds that I wanted. Some of the final tweaks were produced in various other music editing tools.

The Videos: As a video editor I extensively researched stock websites and purchased professional video clips and images to suit the criteria of each story that I wanted to convey, sometimes spending days hunting for the right elements for each project.

The AI: Despite my dislike of AI I have to admit that reluctantly I did use AI for the Newsreader on the videos at the start and end of the album. And I also used AI to change my singing voice as I was not happy with production results of my own voice.

The Results: Ultimately, no matter how I created this album, it is a worthy music album in its own right. I appreciate some of the imperfections but at least I have the satisfaction of knowing that it is original and unique with an intense, relatable human story and a production of significance. Conceived, produced and mixed by myself, a time consuming project which consisted of over 2,500 files and more than 300Gb.

I thank you for your time and interest in reading my story and trust that you enjoy the album…
