09 inSanity

Lyrics – 09 inSanity

In your heart and in your soul,
The subconscious takes control.

Out of mind, out of sight,
Will the star man shine tonight?
No-one can, hear him creep,
Everyone is sound asleep.
He takes our lives – when he arrives.

A sudden noise, but from where?
Open your eyes, if you dare.
From that star, out tonight,
Is a man, shines so bright.
Do not fear – He will appear.

In your heart and in your soul,
The subconscious takes control.
To blow our minds and play the role,
A mythical legend of old,
Or a story we were told.
Could this be ? I’m not me.
Is this my insanity?

How is it, I recognise,
All I see, before my eyes?
Is this real ? Who knows?
From my head to my toes,
It makes me shake – Am I awake?

All my past, I can see,
All these people wave to me.
Then again, I hear them walk,
I can even hear them talk,
But God knows how -This can’t be now.

In your heart and in your soul,
The subconscious takes control.
To blow our minds and play the role,
A mythical legend of old,
Or a story we were told.
Could this be ? I’m not me.
Is this my insanity?

First I’m here, then I’m there,
But I’m not really anywhere.
Is my brain in overload?
Will my head soon explode?
Or am I already dead?
Is this all inside my head?

Explanations run too deep,
Dreaming nightmares in my sleep.

In your heart and in your soul,
The subconscious takes control.
To blow our minds and play the role,
A mythical legend of old,
Or a story we were told.
Could this be? I’m not me.
Is this my insanity?

Is this my insanity? Yeah!

Album Backstory:

I am what you call a Conceptual Musician and I don’t play instruments as such, a little like Malcolm McLaren. And this is a concept album made for the purpose of accompanying my autobiography, though I do intend to put a band together to reproduced it.

I am often asked how I produced my music, and no, it is not AI generated, in fact I hate the whole AI revolution. As a creative, it drives me mad when someone produces something of value and the general assumption is that it must be AI, well it’s not I’m glad to say.

In 2015 I finished writing my autobiography and five years later in 2025 it was published. Another five years later in 2025 I completed the album “Unconventional”. A self imposed personal project which cost thousands to produce, but was worth every penny.

The Lyrics: All of the lyrics for the album are 100% written by myself and I copyrighted them back in 1992. They all originated from my poetry which I used a coping mechanism and an escapism from my abusive childhood, and later tweaked then to be used as song lyrics.

The Music: As a conceptual musician I know in my head exactly the kinds of sounds I want to hear for each track and I have a good understanding of music. I paid session musicians for many aspects of many of the tracks to use as a base layer. Then with the use of DAW software I introduced some of my own created sounds, mixed, blended and remixed until I achieved the sounds that I wanted. Some of the final tweaks were produced in various other music editing tools.

The Videos: As a video editor I extensively researched stock websites and purchased professional video clips and images to suit the criteria of each story that I wanted to convey, sometimes spending days hunting for the right elements for each project.

The AI: Despite my dislike of AI I have to admit that reluctantly I did use AI for the Newsreader on the videos at the start and end of the album. And I also used AI to change my singing voice as I was not happy with production results of my own voice.

The Results: Ultimately, no matter how I created this album, it is a worthy music album in its own right. I appreciate some of the imperfections but at least I have the satisfaction of knowing that it is original and unique with an intense, relatable human story and a production of significance. Conceived, produced and mixed by myself, a time consuming project which consisted of over 2,500 files and more than 300Gb.

I thank you for your time and interest in reading my story and trust that you enjoy the album…
